SYDNEY - Australian-based biotechnology company Nanollose Ltd, has been awarded a patent in India for its technology which ferments organic waste from the food and beverage industries to produce microbial cellulose, opening up the fibre to nonwovens applications.

The patent for the Nullarbor lyocell fibre technology process follows a joint application from the company and Grasim Industries, part of the Aditya Birla Group, one of the world’s largest man-made cellulosic fibre producers.
