Sweeps is introducing Tencel fibre in an extensive range of nonwoven wipes to the European market.

The Dutch wet wipe converter Codi International – previously part of Suominen – is the co-developer and producer of the concept, with a total of 15 different products planned, including those for  applications such as cleaning smart phones, as well as those for cooling and refreshing, hand disinfecting and the self-explanatory ‘love wipes’.

Six of the products have been available in over 400 ETOS drug stores in The Netherlands since last month, with other retailers to follow shortly.

The basic material for the wipes is purchased from European spunlace customers and Lenzing has worked intensively with Sweeps to develop new Tencel nonwovens.

“We are pleased that through our joint efforts, consumers can now take an informed choice when it comes to their wipes,” says Elisabeth Stanger, Lenzing’s global director for hygiene.
