At the NatureWorks Innovation Takes Root conference which takes place in Orlando, Florida from February 17-19, Behnam Pourdeyhimi, executive director of the Nonwovens Institute will showcase a series of novel bicomponent fibres and structures which have been enabled by PLA.
These include durable nonwovens for a number of applications that are highly competitive with traditional woven and knitted textiles as well as innovative new structures for filtration and wipes.
Ryan McEneany will also explain Kimberly-Clark's recently-developed technology for generating micro and nanoporosity in engineered multi-component PLA composites, through the use of state orientation as an alternate approach to traditional foaming via chemical or physical blowing agents.
