Fleissner, now part of Trützschler Nonwovens, introduced its highly successful AquaJet spunlace technology in 1995 and when it was launched in Germany three years later, Norafin put one of the first initial models into operation.
Now Norafin is preparing to take delivery of the 100th AquaJet line at its plant in Mildenau, Germany, which is currently being expanded to accommodate it.
In addition to expanding capacity, the second line will allow Norafin to introduce new product variations to the market. It is capable of producing multi-layer technical nonwovens to a width of 2.5 metres and with weights of between 30-800 gsm. It is also capable of accommodating high performance fibres such as PTFE, P84 and aramids, as well as natural fibres.
At last week’s Techtextil show in Frankfurt (June 11-13), Norafin displayed a range of flax nonwovens for the composites and construction industries in addition to a further-developed range of protective clothing featuring Komanda. This material, which has an area density of 165gsm, is certified for providing premium protection in inner layers against accidental arcing (EN ISO 14166 Index 3, as well as EN IEC 614821-1-2, Class 1 single layer, Class 2, double layer).
