LEEDS - The UK-based Nonwoven Innovation & Research Institute (NIRI) has published a research paper exploring the use of PFAS 'forever chemicals' and the subsequent challenges and opportunities for sustainable nonwoven product development.

As the EU and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) bring in further regulations to restrict the use of Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), NIRI notes that the industry faces significant challenges – and the ubiquity of PFAS means these changes will affect industries across the board, from construction to filtration, from medical to food and beverage.
