VARENNES – Following its acquisition of TenCate Geosynthetics in June this year, Quebec, Canada-headquartered Solmax has now completed the acquisition of Propex, a leading North American geosynthetics manufacturer with a strong track record in the construction, transportation, flood protection and automotive industries.

With the closing of this latest transaction, Solmax is further reinforcing its position as the world’s largest geosynthetics-solutions provider.

Propex geotextiles are manufactured in Ringgold, Georgia, and shipped to customers in more than 35 countries worldwide.

“This acquisition expands the products and solutions that Solmax can offer its customers in many different market segments and also provides us with additional nonwoven geotextile expertise and capacity to further extend our footprint in the environmental and civil-infrastructure markets,” said  John Henderson, president of Solmax Americas.

The purchase of Propex also expands the existing product portfolio of Solmax into the turf-reinforcement market, with a focus on superior erosion control on steep slopes and vegetated waterways.  In addition, products that have been developed by Propex for the pavement-rehabilitation market will complement the Solmax portfolio.

Solmax now has 20 production locations around the world, with products sold in more than 100 countries.
