GREENVILLE – SVOLT Energy Technology, a spin-off of Chinese automotive manufacturer Great Wall Motors, is the first to begin commercialisation of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) using safety technology from the Soteria Battery Innovation Group (BIG).

BIG members include nonwovens manufacturers including Ahlstrom-Munjsko and Glatfelter and the consortium was founded by Dreamweaver, the developer of nanofibre-enhanced nonwoven battery separators.

With technology that eliminates the root cause of thermal runaway and dramatically improves battery safety, SVOLT’s new high-energy cells allow for more design freedom, providing confidence and reduced risk of recalls to their customers.
