WIELSBEKE – Every year, more than 100 million square metres of primarily needlepunched nonwoven carpet is manufactured for trade fairs and employed in corridors, fair stands, entrance halls and other event spaces. Because it contains latex, however, it cannot be sustainably recycled and most of it ends up in an incinerator or as landfill, according to Belgium’s Beaulieu International Group (BIG), which says it has the answer.
