munkHaving recently sold its Label and Processing business as part of its strategy of focusing on leadership in advanced nonwovens and performance materials, Ahlstrom has now acquired Munktell Filter AB.

Munktell, based in Falun, Sweden, produces filtration materials mainly for life science and laboratory applications. End-use examples include new born screening, laboratory media filtration, filter materials for pollution control and testing materials employed by the medical, sugar and beverage industries.  It has production sites in Germany and Sweden, a joint venture in France and a sales office in the US, with net sales of approximately €15 million in 2011 and operating profit margin of roughly 15%. It employs 100 people.
